Cesáreo Gabaráin Azurmendi, also known as Cesáreo Gabaráin, born on May 16, 1936, in Hernani, Spain, was a priest and composer of liturgical songs. He began his musical training at age ten and was ordained as a priest on December 19, 1959. Gabaráin's career took off while serving as a chaplain at the Colegio Chamberí de Hermanos Maristas in Madrid, where he composed notable works like "Pescador de hombres" and "La muerte no es el final", which was adopted by the Spanish Armed Forces. His compositions were translated into multiple languages and included in various Christian songbooks. Gabaráin received significant recognition, including being named capellán de Su Santidad by Pope John Paul II on March 21, 1979, and earning a Disco de Oro. He passed away on April 30, 1991, due to cancer.
