Lamine Konté, born in 1945 in Kolda, Casamance, Senegal, was a griot and kora player. He came from a family of griots and showed an early passion for music, learning to play the kora. In 1971, he moved to Paris, gaining recognition in the Afro-French musical scene. His career included releases such as La Kora du Sénégal - Vol. 1 (1975) and La Kora du Sénégal - Vol. 2 (1976). He collaborated with notable figures like Aimé Césaire and Léopold Sédar Senghor, contributing to the global export of Senegalese traditional music. He composed music for films including Baara, Samba Traoré, and Bako, l'autre rive. Konté died on September 28, 2007, in Paris.
