Gianni Togni, born on July 24, 1956, in Rome, Italy, is an Italian singer-songwriter and composer. He taught himself guitar and piano and began performing at the Folkstudio in Rome in 1974 after meeting lyricist Guido Morra. His debut album In una simile circostanza was released in 1975. Togni became a live musician for the band Pooh and signed with CGD, releasing his breakthrough album …e in quel momento, entrando in un teatro vuoto, un pomeriggio vestito di bianco, mi tolgo la giacca, accendo le luci e sul palco m’invento... in 1980. This album featured the hit "Luna" and led to international tours. Other notable singles include "Semplice" (1981), "Vivi" (1982), and "Giulia" (1984). In 1988, Togni shifted away from mainstream pop with the album Bersaglio mobile and ended his contract with CGD. After a hiatus, he released La Vita Nuova in 2006 and notably received the Lunezia Award in 2017.
