Georg Ruby, born December 16, 1953, in Diez, Germany, is a jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. After studying clarinet and piano at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Köln, he co-founded the Kölner Jazz Haus Initiative in 1978 and performed with the Kölner Jazz Haus Big Band from 1980. Ruby has led several orchestras, including the Blue Art Orchestra and the Berlin Youth Jazz Orchestra, and collaborated with musicians like Wollie Kaiser and Michel Pilz. His album Deuxième Bureau (2011) was notably named CD of the Year by The New York Jazz Report in 2011.
