Agathodaimon, a dark metal band from Mainz, Germany, was formed in 1995 by guitarist Martin "Sathonys" Wickler and drummer Matthias Rodig. The band's initial lineup included vocalist Andrei "Vlad Dracul" Rusu and bassist Marko Thomas, with Carl "Hyperion" Lang joining as the second guitarist. In 1996, Agathodaimon released their first demo, Carpe Noctem, which received positive reviews from the music press. The band signed with Nuclear Blast in 1998 and released their debut album, Blacken The Angel. Andrei Rusu left the band in 1999 due to geographical distance and musical differences, leading Frank Nordmann to become the official vocalist. Agathodaimon continued with notable releases such as Higher Art Of Rebellion (1999), Chapter III (2001), Serpent's Embrace (2004), Phoenix (2009), and In Darkness (2013). The band underwent several lineup changes over the years. Agathodaimon announced their disbandment in October 2014, citing time constraints among family responsibilities and other commitments.
