Michael John Trotta, born in 1978 in the United States, is a composer and conductor. He earned his Bachelor's of Music Degree in Music Education from Rowan University, where he studied voice and conducting. After teaching full-time for a decade, he pursued further education, earning his Master's Degree in Composition and Choral Conducting, followed by a Doctorate in Choral Conducting at Louisiana State University. Trotta relocated to New York City in 2015 to work as a freelance composer, receiving several commissions including "Seven Last Words", For a Breath of Ecstasy, and Gloria. He conducted the premiere of Gloria at Carnegie Hall. In 2017, he released his album Seven Last Words. Trotta was named Distinguished Composer & Conductor by Mid America Productions in recognition of his contributions to music in America and Europe.
