Si Kahn, born April 23, 1944 in State College, Pennsylvania, is an American singer-songwriter and activist. He moved to the Washington D.C. area as a teenager and earned a bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 1965. Kahn began his music career as an activist in the civil rights movement, eventually settling in Charlotte, North Carolina. His debut album New Wood was released in 1974, followed by notable works such as Home (1979), Unfinished Portraits (1984), and I Have Seen Freedom (1991). Throughout his career, Si Kahn has been known for songs about workers and their families, including "Aragon Mill" (1974). He frequently collaborated with singer-songwriter John McCutcheon. In 2010, Si Kahn retired from Grassroots Leadership, a non-profit organization he founded, but continued his musical career with albums like Courage (2010) and It's A Dog's Life (2019).
