Kathryn Williams, born on February 15, 1974, in Liverpool, England, began her music career by selling CDs at local venues. Her early breakthrough came with the album Dog Leap Stairs released in 1999 and continued with her sophomore album, Little Black Numbers, in 2000. Kathryn Williams's career steadily progressed through the early 2000s with subsequent albums including Old Low Light (2002), Relations (2004), and Over Fly Over (2005). In 2006, she collaborated with Neill MacColl on the album Two, followed by The Quickening in 2010. She signed to Cooking Vinyl for Crown Electric (2013) and Hypoxia (2015). Her work has also been featured in collaborations, such as "Father Us" with Marry Waterson & Oliver Knight on the album The Days That Shaped Me (2011), and "Alone" on the tribute album to Ewan MacColl, Joy of Living: A Tribute to Ewan MacColl (2015). Kathryn Williams performed in several notable live events including Once in a Blue Moon: A Tribute to Lal Waterson in 2006. She was also featured in television shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks and BBC Late Review. She recorded the solo album Songs from the Novel Greatest Hits (2017), between two collaborations, with Anthony Kerry on Resonator (2016) and with Carol Ann Duffy on Midnight Chorus (2021). Released in 2022, Night Drives was followed by Wilson Williams with Withered Hand (2024), and Mystery Park in solo (2025).
