X-Ray Pop, stylized as X-RAY POP, a French underground electropop group originating from Tours, Indre-et-Loire. Formed in 1984 by Didier Doc Pilot and Zouka Dzaza (Isabelle de Saint Loup), the band released their first EP, A Guinea Pig's Box, in 1987. Over the years, X-Ray Pop released fifteen albums on independent labels and East West/ Warner Music France. Their single "El Gato" gained significant attention, being named "disque du mois" in both Melody Maker and New Musical Express. The group is recognized as a cult favorite, with influences cited by bands such as La Femme, Stereolab, and the Beastie Boys. In 2014, Finders Keepers Records produced an anthology of X-Ray Pop's work featuring over sixty tracks. On April 2, 2021, the group released a live album in tribute to their historic bassist Patrick Gicquel, who passed away in 2019 at age 48.
