Claudia Ogalde, known professionally as Deetah, was born on February 29, 1976, in Chile. She moved to Stockholm at age six when her family fled the country's political turmoil. Deetah began her music career in the mid-1990s with the group Goldmine and later gained recognition through collaborations with notable artists such as Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and Ophélie Winter. Her stage name is a shortening of a childhood nickname, "Claudita." Deetah's breakthrough came with her debut solo album Deadly Cha Cha, released in 1999. This album featured two top 40 hits on the UK Singles Chart: "Relax", which sampled Dire Straits' "Why Worry" and reached number 11, and "El Paraiso Rico", which sampled Madonna's "La Isla Bonita" and peaked at number 39. Deetah also contributed to Richard Blackwood's hit single "1-2-3-4 Get with the Wicked" in 2000. As a songwriter, she co-wrote songs for artists including 98 Degrees' "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)," Mýa's "Again & Again," and Noora Noor's "Speaker Phone."
