Surf City is a rock ensemble formed in 2004 in Auckland. The group consists of Jamie Kennedy, Davin Stoddard, Logan Collins, and Mike Ellis. Morr Music signed the band for distribution in the United States and Germany. The ensemble released a self-titled EP in 2008 through Arch Hill Recordings and Morr Music. Its debut studio album, Kudos, appeared in 2010 on Fire Records. The group released the studio recording We Knew It Was Not Going to Be Like This in 2013. The 2015 recording Jekyll Island appeared through Fire Records. Stereogum described the band's sound as a melancholic form of shoegaze pop.
