Domingo García Henríquez, known as Tatico Henriquez, was born on July 30, 1943, in the Dominican Republic. He grew up in a poor family and learned to play the accordion from his father, Juan Henríquez alias Bolo. Henriquez began performing at local religious festivals and processions. In 1966, he joined Trío Reynoso after the death of their accordionist Pedro Reynoso, marking his breakthrough moment. He later formed his own group, "Tatico y sus Muchachos." Henriquez was a pioneer in incorporating new instruments into traditional merengue music, transforming the typical ensemble with additions like congas and saxophones. Henriquez died in a car accident on May 23, 1976.
