Born Franco Gabelli, the singer, songwriter, and musician known as Frank Michael was born in Badenia, in Emilia-Romagna (Italy), on May 7, 1947. After his parents left when he was three years old, he grew up in Belgium, where he learned to play the guitar and set his sights on a career as a singer. After releasing albums under the name Frank Michaël in the mid-1970s, he enjoyed growing success as a crooner with a predominantly female audience. Over the next two decades, the singer built a loyal and enduring fan base by continuing to record and drawing large crowds during extensive tours and gala concerts. In 2003, the album *Entre Nous* cemented his success away from the media spotlight. His popularity remained undiminished with his subsequent releases: *Rue des Amours* (2009), *Quelques Mots d’Amour* (2011), and *Bonjour l’Amour* (2012). As the creator of a tribute to Elvis Presley in French and Italian, *Thank You Elvis* (2003), the sentimental crooner continued his momentum with new songs written by Claude Lemesle and Michel Mallory on *Toi, l’Amour et Moi* (2015), followed by a compilation dedicated to his early years, *Mes Premiers Amours* (1975–1985). Following the release of the album *Écouter les Femmes* in 2016 came *La Saint Amour* in 2017, *Le Grand Amour* in 2019, *Je Vous Aime Toutes* in 2022, and *La Symphonie de l’Amour* in 2023. The author of “Toutes les femmes sont belles, ” he recorded some forty albums until his retirement from the stage in 2025, following a final tour. On June 12, 2026, Frank Michael died of aggressive lung cancer at the age of 79.
