Alive N Kickin' was an American pop group formed in Brooklyn, New York. The band consisted of Pepe Cardona and Sandy Toder on vocals, Bruce Sudano and Jeff Miller on keyboards, Woody Wilson on bass, and Dave Shearer on guitar. They began their musical journey in 1968 when they started recording for Tommy James at Roulette Records.
In early 1970, Alive N Kickin' released their self-titled debut album Alive 'N Kickin' which included the hit single "Tighter, Tighter". Written and produced by Tommy James and Bob King, the song peaked at number 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track sold over 1 million copies and received a Gold disc from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Following the success of "Tighter, Tighter", the band released additional singles such as "Just Let It Come" (1970) and "London Bridge / You Gave Me Something" (1971). However, these releases did not achieve similar success. The group disbanded in early 1972 due to increasing difficulties with their producer Morris Levy and the label's insistence on rapid single releases. In 1976, most of the original lineup reunited and continued performing until the late 1980s, with various member changes over the years. Pepe Cardona remained a constant presence in the band until his death from pancreatic cancer on July 28, 2020, aged 72.
