Will Martin, born on 31 August 1984 in Wellington, New Zealand, is a classical crossover singer. Raised in Auckland with Māori ancestry on his mother's side, Martin began singing seriously only in his teens despite having no musical tradition in his family. In 2007, he signed a five-album deal worth $3 million with Universal Music and released his debut album A New World, which went platinum in six weeks. The album featured notable songs such as "Into the West", "If" and "Going Home". Martin's second album, Inspirations, was released in November 2010. On 23 October 2011, he performed the French national anthem "La Marseillaise" at Eden Park in Auckland before the final of the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
