Sonde

Sonde is a Canadian experimental musical group from Montreal that was founded in 1975. Originally named MuD, the ensemble emerged from a course taught by Mario Bertoncini at McGill University. Their first performance took place in 1975 at Pollack Hall, featuring innovative sound sources. Sonde's approach centered on the concept of a "sound source," where both the composition and the object generating the sound are integral to the performance. This philosophy led to numerous performances across North America and Europe from 1975 to approximately 1985, as well as engagements in television, film, and dance. Notable recordings include En concert (1978), En ondes (2007), and En voyage (2009).
