Continuum, a collaborative ambient and drone music project, was formed in 2005 between Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree under his alias Bass Communion and Dirk Serries of Vidna Obmana and Fear Falls Burning. The duo's collective ambition and vision were driven by their passion for various musical styles, ranging from spacious ambience to pounding doom metal. Their debut release, Continuum I (2005), was initially limited to 25 promotional copies. They released The Continuum Recyclings, Volume One (2006), an LP which included four side-long tracks based on Bass Communion's unreleased "Construct III – Immersion Mix". In July 2007, they released Continuum II (2007), followed by The Continuum Recyclings, Volume Two (2010). The latter featured a complete album reconstruction by Justin Broadrick of Jesu and Godflesh.
