Maxwell (born March 23, 1993 in Hamburg) is a singer and rapper from Germany. Born Maxwell Kwabena Schaden, the artist is part of the Hamburg hip-hop group 187 Strassenbande. Maxwell also celebrated his first successes through this connection. In 2014, Maxwell participated as a guest singer on the album High & Hungry by his rap colleagues Gzuz and Bonez MC. In 2015, Maxwell contributed five songs as a guest singer for the album Sampler 3 by 187 Strassenbande. Together with 187 Strassenbande member LX, the idea for a joint album was born in the same year. The joint work Obststand is released in summer 2015 and climbs to number 5 in the charts in Germany. In 2017, Maxwell finally released his first own album, Kohldampf. The longplayer reaches number 2 in Germany. Maxwell reached number 3 in Austria and number 10 in Switzerland. Two years later, he released his second album with rapper LX. Obststand 2 reached number 1 in Germany and Austria in 2019, while the album reached number 2 in Switzerland. Maxwell's most successful songs include "Skifahren", "HaifischNikez Allstars", "10 Jahre" and "Safari". In 2021, the single "Genau So Eine" is released together with rapper and 187-Strassenbande colleague Gzuz. The studio album Kein Plan follows a year later. The rapper reaches number 4 in Germany and number 9 in both Austria and Switzerland. Together with rapper LX, Maxwell released the album Obststand 3 in 2023, which climbed to number 5 in Germany. Maxwell's third studio album, Drunter und Drüber, was released in August 2025. The rapper reaches number 9 in the German charts.
