The Gigolo Aunts are an American power‑pop group formed in 1981 in Potsdam, New York, by The Gigolo Aunts members Steve Hurley, Dave Gibbs, Phil Hurley and Paul Brouwer, who later added Fred Eltringham and Jon Skibic. Their early work appeared on the demo Better Than Fish (1987) and the debut album Everybody Happy (1988) on Coyote Records, followed by Tales from the Vinegar Side (1990) released only in Spain. The breakthrough single "Bloom" (1991) on Summerville Records generated international attention and led to a deal with Fire Records, under which the band released the EP Full‑On Bloom (1993) and the album Flippin' Out (1993 in the UK, 1994 in the US). The track "Where I Find My Heaven" (1993) entered the UK Singles Chart at Number 27 and was featured on the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack (1994). After touring with Suede, The Cranberries and The Wonder Stuff, the group signed with RCA and later with E Pluribus Unum, releasing Minor Chords and Major Themes (1999) and the EP Everyone Can Fly (1999). The band continued touring through the 2000s, releasing Pacific Ocean Blues (2002) and various compilations, and performed live shows as recently as 2023. The Gigolo Aunts remain a notable presence in American alternative rock, recognized for their melodic hooks and consistent touring history.
