The Batzdorfer Hofkapelle (Batzdorf Court Chapel), an instrumental ensemble from Saxony, Germany, began as a project to preserve Batzdorf Castle, initiating cultural events starting in 1988. Dedicated to historical performance practice of Baroque music, the inaugural concert of the court orchestra took place in 1993. Since then, the court orchestra has held the Batzdorf Baroque Festival every summer. The ensemble became a staple in Dresden’s cultural scene, focusing on 18th-century operatic and oratorio repertoire of Dresden, including works by Johann Adolf Hasse and Jan Dismas Zelenka. They have performed at notable festivals such as the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival and the Halle Handel Festival. Their discography includes releases like Scarlatti: Cantate d'amore (2011) and Ristori's Calandro (2005).
