Pandit Debu Chaudhuri, born on May 30, 1935 in Bangladesh, was an Indian sitarist and teacher. He began playing the sitar at age four and made his first broadcast at eighteen with All India Radio in 1953. Pandit Debu Chaudhuri received training under Panchu Gopal Datta and Ustad Mushtaq Ali Khan. He authored three books on Indian music: Sitar and Its Techniques, Music of India, and On Indian Music. Pandit Debu Chaudhuri was conferred the Padma Shri and Padmabhushan awards. His albums include Sitar Music Meditations (1968) and Sitar (1991). He died on May 1, 2021 in Delhi due to COVID-19 complications.
