Communiqué was a 2000s indie rock from the San Francisco Bay Area initially formed as American Steel and consisted of vocalist‑guitarist Rory Daniel Henderson, guitarist Ryan Massey, bassist John Kincaid Peck, drummer Jamie Kissinger, keyboardist Steve Loewinsohn, and additional keyboardist Cory Gowan. Their debut EP A Crescent Honeymoon was released in 2002, followed by their first full‑length album Poison Arrows in 2004 on Lookout! Records, establishing a pop‑pierced indie rock sound distinct from their earlier punk‑influenced work as American Steel. A subsequent EP, Walk Into the Light, appeared in 2006 under Sabot Productions. The band discontinued the Communiqué name in 2007 and reverted to American Steel.
