William Lovelady is an English guitarist and composer from Liverpool born in 1945. Lovelady also performed as Bill Lovelady. The artist achieved recognition with the single “Reggae for it now” (1979) which reached the top 20 in the United Kingdom. Subsequent recordings include the single “One More Reggae for the Road” (1979) which reached Number 1 in Sweden. Their discography includes the album Cheer Up (1981) and the singles “She Done Me In” (1980), “House of the Rising Sun” (1980), and “Himalaya” (1982). Lovelady was a member of the group Oasis from 1983 to 1985 and released the album Oasis (1984). The artist collaborated with Art Garfunkel, Hugh Masekela, L. Shankar, and Julian Lloyd Webber. Classical works include London Rhapsody and the cantata Psalm 104 which was commissioned for the 75th birthday of the Duke of Edinburgh. The cantata was performed at the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh (2021). Their compositions were recorded by Craig Ogden (1999) and Alison Smith (2019).
