Acheron is an American death/black metal band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, formed in 1988 by Vincent Crowley. Their early output included releases such as the demo Messe Noir (1989) and the demo "Alla Xul" (1992), which showcased their Satanic and anti-Christian themes. Their debut album Rites of the Black Mass was released in 1991 and reissued in 2006. Throughout the 1990s, they released several albums including Hail Victory (1993), Satanic Victory (1994), and Lex Talionis (1994). In 2003, they released a cover album titled Tribute to the Devil's Music, featuring tracks originally recorded by bands such as Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. They disbanded in April 2010 but reunited later that year. Their studio album Kult des Hasses was released in 2014. Acheron broke up again in 2019, with Crowley focusing on underground projects, before reuniting and planning the album Aveum Luciferi (2026).
