Michael Barenboim, born in 1985 in Paris, is a classical violinist and violist. He began playing the piano at age four but switched to the violin after his family moved to Berlin in 1992. Michael Barenboim studied under Abraham Jaffe and Axel Wilczok at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock. In 2000, he joined the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, becoming its concertmaster in 2003. He has performed with notable orchestras such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Wiener Philharmoniker, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Barenboim is also a professor of violin and ensemble playing at the Barenboim-Said-Akademie in Berlin, where he served as dean from 2020 to 2024. In 2019, he became the violist of the Michelangelo String Quartet. His notable performances include appearances at the Royal Albert Hall, Théâtre du Châtelet, and Carnegie Hall.
