Carrie was a British‑based rock music group formed in London in 1996, featuring former Levitation and Some Have Fins guitarist Steve Ludwin, ex‑EMF bass player Zac Foley, guitarist Dennis Dicker, and Australian drummer Bruce Pawsey. The band emerged from the earlier North London outfit Pura Vida, and after a brief period of independent releases, they signed to Island Records in 1997, though their debut single "Birds" was issued independently. In 1998, Carrie issued the studio album Fear Of Sound in 1998 which included the singles "Breathe Underwater" (number 99), "Molly" (number 56), and "California Screamin" (number 55). The group toured extensively across the United Kingdom and Europe during 1998, achieving modest chart presence and building a following with their juxtaposition of glossy production and layered harmonies. In late 1999, the band was dropped by Island Records and EMI Publishing, leading to the dissolution of Carrie. Following the split, Zac Foley rejoined EMF, while Steve Ludwin and Dennis Dicker formed Little Hell. Carrie’s brief but active career remains noted for its contribution to late‑1990s British pop‑rock and the charting of its three singles in the UK Singles Chart.
