DarkSun is a Spanish power metal band formed in Asturias in 2002 following the breakup of Nörthwind. The group initially consisted of guitarists Tino Hevia and Daniel González, keyboardist Helena Pinto, bassist Pedro Junquera, and drummer Daniel Cabal. DarkSun's debut album, El Legado, was released in July 2004 after being recorded in Germany with producer Ingo Cjavkoski. The album received critical acclaim and established the band as a significant force in Spanish metal. Their second album, El lado oscuro (2006), was also well-received, leading to an English version titled The Dark Side (2007). In 2008, DarkSun released Libera Me, a conceptual album produced by Dani González. The band continued with Tocar el Sol in 2010 and Memento Mori in 2012, featuring collaborations with notable artists like Ralf Scheepers and Peavy Wagner.
