Stacey James is a multi genre Canadian singer-songwriter and instrumentalist whose musical journey began in early childhood. Her mother being a touring vocalist and poet, always had the music moving in the house. Her diverse musical talents and dedication to both her craft and her community have established her as a notable figure in the Canadian music scene.
Blending elements of various styles into her unique sound. She has used various songwriting tools over the years, such as keyboard/piano, trumpet, saxophone, fiddle, bass, various programs ,pads and guitar. Her career began at 15, performing in the indie hip-hop scene (Headlina Tracks, Deepcave Records) and exploring the stage in 2001. Giving her the opportunity to share the stage opening for notable artists such as Classified, Souls Of Mischief, Xibit, Master Ace and more .Singing hooks, dropping her own occasional bars and falling in love with the art within hip hop. As she continued to explore her love of music she went on to become the lead vocalist and songwriter for the funk band GroovePort. In 2006 she formed Stacey James & The KiK that has over the years become The Stacey James Band while pursuing a solo career, solo endeavours , education and working towards her first love, writing..
Within the writing world, Stacey has had the honour of having some of her works sung by some beautiful voices Globally by artists such as Scheherazade Stone, Charlotte Kelly, Raz Shani and more. Music being a playground Stacey has also had the opportunity to work with various artists worldwide as a part of a collaboration project called the AJR Project where Stacey got to write and sing with a collective of artists such as Adar Avisar, Haim Romano and dozens more worldwide. Beyond Music, Stacey James is a published writer, contributing articles to the Huffington Post. She is the author of the "Words Are My Power" poetry series.
Being a natural born leader, helper and lover of life, she has found herself in many spaces of service. On her own she has worked with the homeless community since the age of 20 and in 2014 she was the founder of the annual Women Helping Women event, supporting women and children escaping domestic violence. Over time, this event has had the ability to offer supports to some of the amazing organizations out there doing good work in support of IPV. With identifying a need and hopes of opening a centre for men and women in the future . Stacey pushes ahead with WHW to expand its reach and assistance. By day, being an intuitive empath since childhood, Stacey spends her time working with incredible individuals around the world in various capacities to assist with their "Soul Fuel" ,discovery of self, emotions and spirit with a dedication to personal expansion and education to assist.
