Blassportgruppe Südwest, a German brass band, was founded in Mannheim in mid-2004 by Felix Fromm and Axel Müller. The duo, who were studying jazz and popular music at the Musikhochschule Mannheim, initially performed as a marching act and released their debut album Vitamin BSG in 2006. The band gained significant exposure during the 2006 FIFA World Cup, performing in 11 German cities as part of the FIFA's official program. In February 2009, they released the EP Superblau, followed by their second full-length album Steil in September 2010 under Jazzhaus Records. The band was also awarded the Kulturpreis Freiburger Leiter in January 2010 and embarked on numerous tours across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In 2013, they released the album Back in Blech under Connector Records.
