Davide Petrella, born 6 August 1985 in Naples, Italy, is an Italian singer-songwriter, composer and lyricist who performs as Tropico. He began with the band Le Strisce, releasing three albums before focusing on songwriting. He collaborated with Cesare Cremonini on Logico and has since written for artists including Gianna Nannini, Elisa, Jovanotti and Mahmood. In 2019 he began his solo career with the singles “Non Esiste Amore a Napoli” and “Doppler”. His debut solo album, Non Esiste Amore a Napoli, was released on 24 September 2021; subsequent singles “Nuda Sexy Noia” and “Contrabbando” (2022) maintained his presence as a recording artist. In 2023 he released Chiamami quando la magia finisce. His songwriting credits include Marco Mengoni’s “Due vite” and Lazza’s “Cenere”, which finished first and second at the 73rd Sanremo Music Festival.
