Kingsland Road, a British pop group formed in 2012, consisted of Matt Cahill, Joe “Connor” Conaboy, JJ Thompson, Josh Zaré, and initially Jay Scott, all hailing from various English cities. The band first gained public attention as the fourth contestant eliminated in the tenth series of The X Factor in 2013, where they performed songs such as "Don't You Worry Child" and "A Thousand Years". After changing their name to avoid confusion with a Canadian act, they released their debut single "Dirty Dancer" on 10 August 2014, which entered the UK Singles Chart at number 85. In October 2014 they secured a U.S. record deal and launched a brief promotional tour. Their debut album We Are the Young was funded through PledgeMusic and issued on 15 March 2015, followed by a short UK tour in August 2015. The group announced their disbandment on 1 June 2015. In 2019, they announced a reunion show scheduled for 21 December 2019, marking a brief return to live performance after the split.
