Zikaza was a Greenlandic folk-rock band based in Aarhus, Denmark. The group's main figure was Siiva Fleischer, born 1959, in Ilulissat. Fleischer learned to play the guitar during a brief stay with a foster family in Denmark and later formed his first band, Lazy Fools, upon returning to Greenland. In 1981, Fleischer met Kaaleeraq Hansen and Saamu Petersen while studying at Aarhus University, leading to the formation of Zikaza. Zikaza was noted for Fleischer's distinctive voice and the incorporation of wind instruments in Greenlandic music. The band's debut album, Zikaza, was released in 1985 and their second album, Miki Goes to Nuussuaq (1988), became one of the most successful albums in Greenlandic music history. Following the release of their third and fourth albums, Saava Mumingalu (1990) and Assit (1996), Fleischer relocated to Nuuk, leading to the band's dissolution. The band notably received a Koda Award in 1997 and reunited in 2005 to perform concerts with a new lineup.
