Johnny Yip, born 葉振棠 on February 7, 1945 in Macau, was a Hong Kong singer known for his contributions to television drama soundtracks. After moving to Hong Kong at age 18, Ye initially worked as a part-time night bassist. In the mid-1970s, he formed "The New Topnotes" band and released albums through EMI Records. His breakthrough came in 1980 when he was hired by Rediffusion Television's music director Michael Lai Siu-tin to sing TV drama theme songs, including "Gone With the Wind" and "Drama Life". Ye signed with TVB in 1982, collaborating with music director Joseph Koo on notable tracks like "The Troupe Boy" and "Forget All the Love in My Heart". In 1982, Ye won the Asia Special Award at the Tokyo Music Festival with "Waiting Again".
