Nancy Sit Ka-yin MH, better known as Nancy Sit, is an icon of Hong Kong's entertainment industry, famous for her long career and accomplishments in both acting and music. She was born on March 30, 1950, in British Hong Kong. Beginning her career in the 1960s as a teen idol, Nancy Sit quickly became a household name, recording numerous albums and captivating audiences with her melodious voice and versatile singing style, often performing covers of Western hits in the Hala Hala (Go-Go) genre. Her first single, "Go Go Dance," was released in 1966. This was followed by songs such as "Hala Hala" and "You Can't Do That," which built on her popularity. She released the album 森林之歌 in 1967, followed by 1970's 不凋謝的花. Nancy Sit's acting career flourished alongside her music, starring in long-running series like A Kindred Spirit and appearing in movies such as Flatfoot Goes East (1975). In 1975, she also released the album 我願為情犠牲 to much acclaim. Despite taking a hiatus from show business to focus on her family, she made a triumphant return to the industry in the early 1990s, re-establishing her presence in both television and music. In 2014, she received the Outstanding Women Professionals Award. In 2024, Nancy Sit released the single "Year of the Yo!," a multilingual collaboration with Malaysian singer Shila Amzah that featured lyrics in English, Malay, and Chinese.
