Andreas Ammer is a German writer, television producer, and audio play director born on March 23, 1960, in Munich. He studied German studies, philosophy, and history of natural sciences at the University of Munich, where he earned a doctorate. Ammer began his career as an academic before becoming a freelance author and journalist. In 1990, his debut audio play Orbis Auditus was named Hörspiel des Jahres. He is a member of the Academy of Arts and is recognized for incorporating pop elements and live performances into the audio play genre. His notable collaborations include working with FM Einheit and Ulrike Haage on Radio Inferno (1993) and Apocalypse Live (1994), which won the Hörspielpreis der Kriegsblinden in 1995. Ammer received a second Hörspielpreis der Kriegsblinden in 2002 for Crashing Aeroplanes. Since 2003, he has produced the television program druckfrisch. His recent multimedia projects include the internet-based "swarm" plays Unendliches Spiel (2017) and Zusammen Walden (2020).
