Florence Black is a Welsh hard rock trio featuring singer/guitarist Tristan Thomas, bassist Jordan Evans, and drummer Perry Davies. The group formed in October 2012 in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. Although Florence Black initially played cover songs on the Welsh pub circuit, the band began focusing on original material inspired by 1970s heavy metal, 1980s arena rock, and 1990s grunge music. Tristan Thomas, Jordan Evans, and Perry Davies introduced that new sound with the Florence Black EP (also known as EP 1) in 2016. The record featured four songs, as did its 2017 follow-up, EP II. After releasing The Final EP in 2019, Florence Black scored a hit with the non-album single "Bird on a Chain," which peaked at Number 1 on the Welsh iTunes Rock chart that same year. Later in 2021, the band made its full-length studio debut with Weight of the World, which reached number 6 on the Official UK Rock & Metal Album Chart, number 25 on the Official UK Physical Album Sales Chart, and number 33 on the Official UK Album Downloads Chart. A second album, Bed of Nails, was released in February 2024, debuting at number 92 on the Top 100 Official Albums Chart in the UK. In 2026, the band returned with Pouring Rain, which reached number 17 on the UK Top 100 Albums Download Official Chart.
