His 2015 debut album Ratchet, featuring the breakout single "On the Regular," garnered critical acclaim for its fusion of electronic pop and his distinctive countertenor voice. Following a departure from XL Recordings, Shamir independently released Hope and Revelations in 2017, showcasing a lo-fi, guitar-driven sound that delved into personal themes, including mental health and identity. Subsequent albums like Resolution (2018), Be the Yee, Here Comes the Haw (2019), and Cataclysm (2020) further demonstrated his versatility across genres.
