Joseph Patrick Moore, born October 1, 1969, in Knoxville, Tennessee, is an American musician, bass player, composer, arranger, and record producer who began his musical journey playing alto saxophone at age seven before switching to drums and eventually settling on electric bass. In 1996, he released his debut solo album Never Never Land, which he financed, arranged, and produced himself. That same year, Moore was nominated for a Premier Player award by the Memphis Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He moved to Atlanta in 1997 and played with Colonel Bruce Hampton and the Fiji Mariners. In 2003, Moore founded Blue Canoe Records, the internet's first all-digital independent jazz label. Throughout his career, he has released numerous albums, including Soul Cloud (2000), Drum & Bass Society Vol. 1 (2004), and Nevada Sun (2019).
