Gioconda De Vito, born in 1907 in Martina Franca, Italy, was a classical violinist. She began playing the violin at a young age and was initially self-taught. At 13, she graduated from the Conservatorio Statale di Musica "Gioacchino Rossini" in Pesaro. De Vito's career included solo performances and teaching positions at conservatories in Bari and Palermo. In 1948, she performed in London with Victor de Sabata, playing Brahms' Violin Concerto, which led to appearances at the Edinburgh Festival and collaborations with artists like Yehudi Menuhin and Isaac Stern. She was appointed a lifelong professor at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome in 1944. De Vito's notable performances include a sonata by Brahms for Pope Pius XII in 1953, and she decided to retire in 1961. She passed away in 1994.
