Anne Etchegoyen, born in Saint-Palais (Pyréenées-Atlantiques, France) in 1980, is one of the leading female voices of traditional Basque song, and has been making a name for herself at national level since the early 2000s. However, it was singing the French national anthem "La Marseillaise" at the Stade de France, opening the World Athletics Championships, that made her a household name in 2003. For the rest, her repertoire remains true to her roots through recordings: Anne Etchegoyen (2003), Otentik (2005) and Pachamama (2008). The latter was reissued in 2010, with bonus extracts from her show at the Olympia in Paris the previous year. Her album Les Voix Basques, with the male choir Aizkoa, was one of the hits of summer 2013. The singer and choir returned in June 2014 with a new volume entitled Les Voix Basques: Berriz. In 2017, the album Compostelle: du Pays Basque à Saint-Jacques ranks among the top 100 best-selling albums.
