Cenobita, an aggrotech and electronic music band from Mexico City, was formed in 1994 by Claus Bita and Omar Flo. The duo met in Mexico City in 1993 and shared a passion for industrial and electronic music, inspired by bands such as Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly. Their first public work was the track "Genetica Mechanica", released on the compilation From Trance to Cyber in 1994. The following year, they recorded the demo tape Cybertuality, which featured a crossover sound using guitars. By 1996, they released another demo tape named Visiones. In 1999, Cenobita released their debut album Neo Milenio on the independent Mexican label Opción Sónica. The band toured the US in 2000 with Flesh Field, God Module, and Negative Format. Omar Flo left the lineup in 2001, leaving Claus Bita as the sole member. Their follow-up album Metamorfosis was released in 2002 through Trisol/Matrix Cube.
