Hild Sofie Tafjord, born on January 4, 1974, in Langevåg, Norway, is a French horn player and composer known for her work across jazz, experimental music, noise, improvisation, and live electronic music. She studied at Toneheim Folk High School with Maja Ratkje before continuing her education at the University of Oslo and the Norwegian Academy of Music. Tafjord's early career included forming the ensemble Spunk with Ratkje, Lene Grenager, and Kristin Andersen. In 2007, Tafjord released her first solo album Kama. She has collaborated extensively with various artists, including Zeena Parkins, Fred Frith, Ikue Mori, and Matmos.
