Although raised in America, pop-soul singer Sergio Sylvestre launched his music career in Italy, where he scored a pair of Top 20 singles during the late-2010s with "Big Boy" and "Con Te." He was born as Sergiofeld Sylvestre in Los Angeles, California, on December 5, 1990. His Mexican mother and Haitian father encouraged their son to value diversity and multi-cultural experiences, and the young Sergio visited Southern Italy for the first time in 2012. He soon moved to the area and became the singer of a local band called Samsara Beach. By 2015, he had also become a recurring figure on Italian television as a contestant in the singing competition Amici di Maria De Filippi. Sergio Sylvestre became the winner of the show's fifteenth season in 2016 and released his debut EP, Big Boy, that spring. Big Boy peaked at Number 1 in Italy and Number 46 in Switzerland. Both the EP and its title track earned gold certifications in Italy, with the "Big Boy" single climbing to Number 19 on Italy's FIMI chart. Although the follow-up singles "Ashes" and "No Goodbye" failed to chart, Sergio Sylvestre climbed to Number 17 with 2017's "Con te," a gold-certified single that doubled as the lead single from his full-length, self-titled debut album. The eponymous Sergio Sylvestre charted at Number 10 in Italy and was followed by a holiday album, Big Christmas, in late 2017. He then released a number of non-album singles during the following years, with highlights including 2019's "Parolacce," 2020's "Story of My Life," and a pair of duets with Room9 in 2021.
