Anastasios Bougas, known professionally as Tasos Bougas, was born on January 27, 1953, in Pyrgos, Greece. Bougas is a Greek singer associated with laïkó music and oriental-influenced styles such as tsifteteli. He began performing at a young age and later moved to Athens, with his career briefly interrupted by military service, including time in Cyprus. Although active since the 1970s, he achieved his greatest popularity from the late 1980s through the 1990s. His albums include Either Way / I Reveal Myself (Έτσι Κι Αλλιώς / Αποκαλύπτομαι, 1996), We Didn’t Work It Out – Live Recording (Δεν Τα Βρήκαμε – Ζωντανή Ηχογράφηση, 1996), and I Like Whatever Is Forbidden (Μ’ Αρέσει Ό,τι Απαγορεύεται, 1999). He is also known for his flamboyant image and distinctive stage persona.
