Valdemiro Silva Xalino, known as Val Xalino, and born on August 19, 1953, in Mindelo, São Vicente, Cape Verde, is a singer and music producer who immigrated to Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1977. He was the first Cape Verdean to perform traditional Cape Verdean music for Swedish audiences, appearing in various festivals. Xalino's first album was Dilema d’imigração (1985), which addressed the common immigration dilemmas of Cape Verdeans at that time. In 1986, he released Dança Dança T' Manchê, featuring the hit single "Praia de Baía", which gained significant airplay on Swedish radio stations. Xalino continued to release albums including Grandeza (2004) and Rainha de Beleza (2006).
