Jung Pil-kyo, professionally known as Shin Hye-sung, was born on November 27, 1979, in Seoul, South Korea. He rose to fame as the main vocalist of the iconic South Korean boy band Shinhwa. He debuted with Shinhwa on March 24, 1998, with their single "해결사" (The Solver), and has since built a catalog with the group including thirteen Korean and one Japanese studio album releases. Shin Hye-sung launched his solo career in 2005 with the release of his album Love of May, which topped the HMV pre-order sales chart in Japan, selling 180,000 copies. He followed this success with his chart-topping second album, The Beginning, New Days, in 2007. The lead single, "First Person," reached number 1 on the K-pop Top 10 chart. Shin Hye-sung continued to release several more albums, including The Road Not Taken (2011), after which he toured in Seoul, Busan, and Shanghai. In 2012, he reunited with Shinhwa for their tenth studio album, The Return, and a subsequent Asian tour. From 2019 to 2021, Shin Hye-sung hosted the SBS radio show Shin Hyesung's Music Odyssey but took a hiatus due to throat issues. Shin Hye-sung's solo discography includes both Korean and Japanese albums such as Embrace (2011), Winter Poetry (2012), Delight (2016), and Serenity (2017). Over the years, he's received various industry accolades such as the Best Ballad Performance at the 2005 Mnet Asian Music Awards and multiple Bonsang awards.
