Erwin Steinhauer (born September 19, 1951) is an Austrian actor and cabaret artist from Vienna. Steinhauer studied German studies and history before co-founding the cabaret group Keif in 1974 with Alfred Rubatschek, Erich Demmer, and Wolfgang Teuschl. Steinhauer performed at the Wiener Kabarett Simpl (1977) and the Düsseldorfer Kom(m)ödchen (1979). Solo cabaret programs included Entlassen (1982) and Kopf hoch (1983). Steinhauer performed in film and television productions including Holocaust – Die Geschichte der Familie Weiss (1977), Single Bells (1997), and Das finstere Tal (2014). Between 2000 and 2018, Steinhauer portrayed the character Simon Polt in film adaptations of the Polt-Krimireihe. Steinhauer received the Salzburger Stier in 1983 and the Österreichischer Kleinkunstpreis in 1986 and 2004. Steinhauer also performed as a narrator for radio plays and provided voices for films including Rotzbub (2021).
