Caris Hermes, born on December 1, 1991, in Geseke, Germany, is a jazz bassist and composer. She started playing violin at age three, later transitioning to double bass at 14. Hermes studied at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Her breakthrough came with her EP Human, released in 2018. She has collaborated extensively with notable artists such as Paul Heller, Martin Sasse, and the WDR Big Band. Hermes has performed at prestigious festivals including the Moers Festival and Viersen Jazz Festival. In 2024, she was awarded the WDR Jazz Prize. Hermes released her self-titled album Caris Hermes in 2022.
