Witness was a contemporary gospel group from Detroit, Michigan, formed in 1986 as a quintet consisting of Lisa Page Brooks, Tina Brooks, Yolanda Harris, Diane Campbell, and Marvie Wright. They were signed to Tyscot Records and released their debut album, Keep Looking Up, in 1987. The group was nominated for a Grammy in 1991 for Best Group/Duo and won the 1991 GMWA Excellence Award for Best Group and the 1993 Stellar Award for Best Performance Group/Duo. After several lineup changes, Witness achieved Billboard success with albums such as We Can Make a Difference (1990), Standard (1993), He Can Do the Impossible (1994), A Song in the Night (1996), and Love Is an Action Word (1998). After going on hiatus in 1999, Witness returned in 2003 with the album An Appointed Time.
