Solefald, a Norwegian avant-garde metal/black band, was formed in August 1995 by Lars Are "Lazare" Nedland and Cornelius Jakhelln. The duo released their debut demo Jernlov in 1995, showcasing an experimental edge within the black metal genre. Their first full-length album, The Linear Scaffold, was released in 1997 under Avantgarde Music, introducing innovative elements like hand claps and clean guitar passages. Solefald's unique style led to a European tour supporting Haggard and Tristania in 1998. The band released their second full-length album, Neonism, in 1999, incorporating diverse genres including pop, classical music, punk, and progressive metal. Following this, Solefald released Pills Against the Ageless Ills in 2001, a concept album with varied musical styles. The band continued to release albums such as In Harmonia Universali (2003), Red For Fire - An Icelandic Odyssey Part I (2005), Black For Death - An Icelandic Odyssey Part II (2006), and Norrøn Livskunst (2010).
